About Middlebury College

Middlebury College is a private liberal arts college located in Middlebury, which is a town in the US state of Vermont, serving as the shire town/county seat of Addison County, with a population of over 8000 inhabitants, at the time of the 2000 census.

The college was established in 1800 and it is a top-tier liberal arts college. However, Middlebury received its founding charter in the reminded year, but it traces its roots to the Addison County Grammar School, which had been founded 3 years prior, in 1797. It outgrew the school, and has continuously grown, over the years.

Today, Middlebury College is nationally known for its programs in environmental studies, and has strong programs and world-class facilities in the sciences, overall, offering its students more than 850 courses in 44 majors.

Athletics

Middlebury's athletic teams are known as the Panthers and they compete in NCAA Division III, NESCAC. Their distinctive colors are blue and white.
